What sets CaniNe Cabins apart from other grooming salons?

We de-shed EVERY dog. If you own a shedding dog breed, their coat should be blown out and you shouldn’t have to ask for it!

Let Abbie show you how much hair can come from a de-shed on a husky!

No unnecessary add-ons. Each dogs coat and skin are totally different, so we don’t charge extra for special shampoos. Each dog gets a different shampoo mixed for what they need. You shouldn’t have to pay extra to make sure their coat is moisturized or extra bright!

We never use crates. There’s no crate and wait happening here! Our appointments are one-on-one with our groomers. While your dog is waiting for pick up they'll be able to sniff around our play yards or rest in one of our luxury suites.

We are able to provide a low stress environment for our dogs. Unlike other shops that are packed with groomers and dogs, it’s just Abbie and Grace grooming here. There’s no unnecessary noise or distractions for the dogs on the table. It’s less stressful for them. Although we may expand in the future, our clients are loving the privacy now!

GROOMING REQUIREMENTS

PRICING

Due to the nature of dog grooming all quoted prices prior to actually grooming your dog are only estimates. Final price will depend on the temperament of each dog and the condition of its coat. Upon physical inspection by the groomer a good faith estimated price will be provided. Extra charges may apply for dogs that are matted and/or difficult to manage.

CANCELLATIONS/NO SHOWS

All cancellations or reschedules require at least 48 hours’ notice to give us time to fill the spot. For appointments canceled with less than 48 hours notice or no shows, half the cost of the groom will be charged to the card on file.

RUNNING LATE?

If you are going to be late for your appointment for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible. Grooming appointments will be held for 15 minutes after the stated drop-off time. Appointments that are more than 15 minutes late may be canceled due to high demand and the card on file will be charged for half the cost of the groom. We have limited space to hold your dog once the groom is complete. You have an hour to pick up. After 1 hour it’s $15 per hour until the dog is picked up.

VACCINES

All dogs must be up to date on Rabies, DHLPP and Bordetella (once per year) vaccines 10 days prior to their appointment. Owner must provide proof of vaccination. Dogs diagnosed with canine cough or giardia within 30 days of their appointment need to be cleared by a veterinarian before they can come in.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS

It is your responsibility to notify us if your dog has any illness, injury, or behavior problem (including aggressive or biting behavior). Grooming can sometimes reveal a concealed medical condition or aggravate an existing one.

SENIOR DOGS

Senior dogs and dogs with health problems have a greater chance of injury (including risk of death) and will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort in a manner that will not add to their stress. Canine Cabins may determine in its professional opinion (keeping the best interest of your dog in mind) that the only available option is to stop or modify the services for the safety and well-being of your dog.

MEET THE GROOMERS

Abbie and Grace are two of the most dependable and trustworthy people I know and we are absolutely thrilled to have them running our grooming program. We are now offering grooming 7 days a week and will continue to add more appointments as we grow.

ABBIE

Abbie started at Canine Cabins in the summer of 2021 as a dog handler and we are thrilled to have her take on a new role here as one of our groomers!

What made you decide to become a groomer?

I’ve always loved animals and had been working with dogs already for a few years. When I graduated high school in 2020, and the world seemed like it was on pause forever- the whole online school thing wasn’t working out for me. I realized my passion is working with animals, and wanted to learn more in the industry. The idea of working with dogs daily and combining my artistic, creative side seemed perfect. And although it was tricky to learn at first, once I got the hang of things I was obsessed!

What is your favorite thing about grooming?

I love the finishing touches like bows, bandanas and a spritz of pet cologne. Mostly because it’s satisfying seeing everything come together at the end. But there’s nothing more satisfying than when you can get a perfectly shaped head, or perfectly round paws.

What makes your job difficult?

It can be tough on my body, especially when working with large breeds or dogs that are super stubborn for their head or feet. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to cut an even head and ears when a dogs refusing. I usually end up contorting myself into some weird position to make it possible. Which in turn just messes up my back more.

What is different about grooming here specifically?

It’s different being in an environment that isn’t totally hectic. It’s just me, the table and the tub. Everything I need is within arms distance and can be grabbed without leaving your dog unattended.

What are some things you'd like to learn with grooming that you don't know how to do yet?

I’d really like to get into creative grooming one day. It would be fun to temporarily dye a pup’s tail and ears. But I can also see myself adopting a poodle to practice on one day, and going all out with the haircuts and dye!

What brings you the most satisfaction when you're grooming a dog?

I love when I’m blow drying a dog and they smell fresh and clean all over. And then feeling how soft they are after too!

What helps you through a long day of grooming?

I love listening to music while I groom, and taking little breaks with the dogs. When transitioning from the tub to the table or vice versa - I always take a few moments to sit with the dog, give them a treat, pet them or whatever they seem like they want. We take little breaks together and it’s definitely what keeps me (and them) sane.

GRACE

Grace worked with us for more than a year in 2021 and came back this summer to join our grooming team!

What made you decide to become a groomer?

I honestly never thought I would become a groomer, but once I started my first bathing job I fell in love with it and that passion kept growing. I knew this would be a true challenge and test of patience, but it’s a very rewarding career.

What is your favorite thing about grooming?

I love getting to build a bond with the dog and gaining their trust—also just the transformation of the dog before/after their groom.

What makes your job difficult?

The back/joint pain! LOL but seriously when owners don’t have realistic expectations for their dog, waiting too long to bring their puppy in for grooming, or not getting their dog groomed often enough (matting, skin conditions, unwanted behavior).

What is different about grooming here specifically?

I don’t have to worry about the constant hustle and bustle of a traditional salon. It’s just me and the dog, no distractions or external stressors. It feels way more personal, and I get to focus on the dog that’s in front of me. I’ve also noticed how kind and appreciative our clients are here.

What are some things you'd like to learn with grooming that you don't know how to do yet?

Hand stripping/carding, creative grooming

What brings you the most satisfaction when you're grooming a dog?

Getting a very dirty dog squeaky clean, blowing out a ton of undercoat, trimming super overgrown nails, doing perfect prep work so that my clippers can glide through the coat like butter.

What helps you through a long day of grooming?

Caffeine! Also making myself a clear plan for the day, remembering to eat something, stretching, and listening to music/podcasts.
